Before his international career, Gill had a remarkable record in domestic cricket. He played for Punjab in the Ranji Trophy and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Gill's performances in the IPL have been particularly noteworthy, earning him recognition as one of the brightest young talents in Indian cricket.
